Brazilian iron ore exports to China soar
Brazil's iron ore exports to China rose to 178Mt in January-October from 173Mt a year earlier and shot up 57.0% by value to US$8.66bn, said foreign trade department Secex.
Ferro-niobium sales to the Asian country surged 39.7% to US$365mn in the first 10 months, as volumes increased to 18,961t from 12,789t.
Manganese exports brought in US$194mn, up 257% year-on-year, with volumes jumping to 1.43Mt from 699,389t.
Iron ore pellet shipments rose to 1.54Mt from 1.44Mt and climbed 35.5% by value to US$124mn, Secex said.
Ferronickel exports were up to 44,208t from 43,175t, and rose 3.61% to US$108mn.
Copper cathode exports to China, however, slumped 52.6% to US$165mn, and tumbled 63.5% by volume to 26,832t.
Brazil's total exports to China in the period reached US$41.4bn, up 34.7% year-on-year.
