Today, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced that Identidad IoT - a telecommunications, machine-to-machine (M2M) and IoT service provider serving the Caribbean, Central and South America - has selected the HPE Universal IoT Platform to deliver IoT products and services for its enterprise, small and medium business and telecommunications customers.
The device and network-agnostic HPE Universal IoT Platform will help Identidad IoT develop new products and services across multiple industry verticals using a variety of connectivity options, protocols and interfaces. Identidad IoT solution capabilities will span across simple SIM and smart device management, local and global device and network connectivity and data analytics through personalized applications.
HPE offers a single horizontal platform with common features and functions that leverage an open and standardized architecture in alignment with the oneM2M specification, allowing Identidad IoT to streamline onboarding of IoT devices, protocols and applications by removing complexities and reducing costs. It will also help Identidad with managing device connectivity and supporting application development and deploying those on Identidad IoT network.
According to Gartner, "endpoints of the IoT will grow at a 31.7 percent CAGR from 2013 through 2020, reaching an installed base of 20.8 billion units."1 As the IoT market expands and organizations extend their networks to connect a broad range of devices, communications service providers and enterprises require horizontal solutions to connect and manage devices and applications, while meeting the scalability and versatility requirements of IoT operators.
"Identidad IoT has the knowledge and expertise to develop complete turnkey solutions for customers ranging from mobile network operators to service providers to end users," said Andres Sanchez, CEO, Identidad IoT. "The HPE Universal IoT Platform is a robust IoT solution and we are confident that HPE is the right partner to lead our customers into the IoT era."
In addition, Identidad IoT will work with HPE to develop and offer IoT use cases and applications across various industry verticals like smart cities, fleet management, asset tracking and personal safety.
"Analyzing data collected from devices is key to driving business value," said David Sliter, worldwide vice president & general manager, Communications & Media Solutions, Hewlett Packard Enterprise. "HPE's horizontal enablement approach that combines device and subscription management with IoT data collection, validation, analytics and application enablement will assist Identidad IoT in developing and growing a new business."
At its core, the HPE Universal IoT Platform has been designed to be industry and vendor-independent, enabling IoT service providers to simultaneously manage heterogeneous sets of sensors, operate vertical applications on IoT and M2M devices, as well as process, analyze and monetize collected data in a single secure cloud platform. The HPE Universal IoT Platform provides increased support for long range, low power connectivity, ensuring that LoRa® and SIGFOX deployments can be supported alongside other connectivity protocols, including cellular, radio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
