Claro Nicaragua launches 4G LTE network
Claro Nicaragua has launch its 4G LTE network in four cities around the country. América Móvil's local brand deployed 4G services in areas of Managua, Matagalpa, Estelí and León, it announced on its blog.
Claro has joined the Nicaraguan 4G bandwagon, after Telefónica's local brand Movistar announced the start of deployment of its network in the country.
Nicaragua is the fourth Central American country with this technology, after Honduras, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
According to a study by 4G Americas, the number of 4G LTE users in Central America is set to grow from 400,000 at end-2014 to 1.9mn by 2019 – growth of some 375%, reaching 76% penetration within five years.
