Petrobras could relaunch refinery expansion tender
Brazil’s federal oil firm Petrobras could launch a new construction tender for the second refining train of its Abreu e Lima (RNEST) refinery.
According to two sources close to the matter and heard by BNamericas, the prices offered in the process were much higher than the firm's expectations.
Petrobras is currently negotiating lot A with Consag, whose original proposal for this lot was 3.2 billion reais (US$572 million); lot C with Tenenge/OECI (3.09bn reais); lot E with Construcap (1.12bn reais) and lot FG with Tenenge/OECI (2.8bn reais).
There was a bid for Lots B and AB, as well as for lot CDE, but they were disqualified. There were no bids for Lot D.
The oil giant plans to invest between 6bn reais and 8bn reais in the expansion of RNEST.
Works are scheduled to be completed in 2028, with the facility in Pernambuco state expected to have oil processing capacity of 260,000b/d.
The project will increase the production of derivatives, especially S10 diesel, to meet market demand.
