Aon is a UK insurance and reinsurance broker which offers a range of services including risk management, retail, reinsurance and wholesale brokerage, claims management, specialty services, and human capital consulting services. The company operates in countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. It also operates in Central America and the Caribbean. In the region, the company has strengthened its position through alliances or the acquisition of local competitors. For example, in 2014, the company purchased Peru's Graña y Asociados through its subsidiary Aon Risk Solutions. The Peruvian firm provides risk and insurance solutions for individuals and businesses. Before that, in 2008, it acquired Cosegur Re, a Peruvian reinsurance intermediary. In 2012, its Brazilian subsidiary, Aon Affinity, entered into the market of sale and administration of group health plans through a partnership with local accident and health insurer, Hapvida Sistema de Saúde. In the same country, Aon acquired insurance brokers Corretora Man Trindade and Genoma in 2007. Worldwide, the company completed in 2008 the acquisition of UK reinsurance and risk broker Benfield to form Aon Benfield, its reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor. Aon was founded in 1982 and is based in London.
