In June 1999, Ecofuturo SA Private Financial Fund began operations thanks to the union of the group made up of 4 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), committed to working for the development of micro and small businesses in the country. At the beginning of its activities, between 1999 and 2002, Ecofuturo FFPSA faced difficult financial situations in an environment of macroeconomic crisis in the country, to subsequently achieve highly positive results and financial sustainability.
In 2008, IDEPRO, the company's largest shareholder, transferred all its shares to the Foundation for Development Alternatives (FADES), which is currently the Institution's largest shareholder. In 2014, the Financial System Authority (ASFI) issued a Resolution establishing the transformation of Ecofuturo SA into Banco PYME Ecofuturo SA, a company name that allowed the Institution to diversify the range of financial products such as trusts, foreign trade, guarantee and credit cards. Banco PYME Ecofuturo SA recently celebrated its 22nd anniversary in 2021, providing comprehensive quality financial services, responding in a timely manner to the demand of its customers and users within the framework of social responsibility.
