Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina (CAF) is a multilateral financial institution with a mission to promote sustainable development among its shareholder countries and regional integration. It serves the public and private sectors, providing multiple financial services to a customer base comprising the governments of shareholder countries, public and private companies and financial institutions. Its policies incorporate social and environmental variables, and it includes ecoefficiency and sustainability criteria in all its operations. Its main activities comprise granting short-, medium-, and long-term loans for projects, working capital, trade activities, and conducting feasibility studies for investment opportunities in its member countries. It has 17 Latin American shareholder countries —Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela—, plus Spain, Portugal and the Caribbean, together with 13 regional private banks. CAF was established in 1970 and is headquartered in Caracas, Venezuela. It also has offices in Buenos Aires, La Paz, Brasilia, Bogota, Quito, Madrid, Mexico City, Panama City, Asuncion, Lima, Montevideo and Port of Spain.
