The Federal Economic Competition Comission (Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica, COFECE) is a Mexican autonomous entity created in 2013 and based in the City of Mexico, which monitors, promotes and ensures competition and free market participation, so as to contribute to job generation and national economic growth; researching and fighting monopolies and banned concentrations; regulating essential consumables, barriers to competition, and restrictions to the efficient operation of markets, in compliance with the Constitution, treaties and laws. The COFECE is composed of the Plenary, the Presidency, the Technical Secretariat, the Investigative Authority and the Internal Comptroller.
