Description:
CBMM is a Brazilian niobium miner and integrated producer whose operations range from mining to finished products. It extracts niobium from an open-pit mine, the world's largest deposit of pyrochlore, near the city of Araxá in Minas Gerais state, under an agreement which provides 25% of operating profits to the Minas Gerais state government. It also owns a refining plant and metallurgical production facilties in the Araxá area. The company supplies 82% of the world demand for niobium products. The company has subsidiaries in Dusseldorf, Germany, Pittsburgh, US, and Tokyo, Japan. CBMM was founded in 1955 and is part of Brazil's Grupo Moreira Salles.
