São Paulo-based CPFL Santa Cruz, a privately held company, is one of the power distribution subsidiaries of Brazilian holding company CPFL Energia. Founded in 1966, the firm serves 205,000 customers in 24 municipalities in central São Paulo's region of Média Sorocabana, and 3 in northern Paraná state. The main municipalities where it operates are Avaré, Ourinhos and Piraju. Brazilian power regulator ANEEL awarded CPFL Santa Cruz a power distribution contract, a concession extended in 2015 for another 30 years. In the same year, power sales in the concession area decreased 4.7% annually to 1,088GWh (1,042GWh for captive market and 46,1GWh for free market).
