Companhia Paranaense de Gás (Compagás) is a Brazilian natural gas distribution company that serves Paraná state under a 30 years concession contract obtained in 1994. The concession is to distribute gas and offer related services to all types of consumers, whether it is used as raw material, for energy generation or any other purpose. Compagás' distribution network covers more than 780km to provide gas to 31,790 commercial and residential consumer units across 17 municipalities. Among its customers, there are natural gas vehicle stations, shopping stores, industries and power generation and cogeneration companies, including the Araucária gas-fired power plant. Founded in 1994, Curitiba-based Compagás is a partially state-owned company, with Paraná state holding a 51% stake in the firm through Copel (Companhia Paraenense de Energia). The remaining shares are in hands of Petrobrás Gas and Mitsui Gás e Energia do Brasil.
