São Paulo state metropolitan rail company Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) is responsible for the planning, management, control and operation of all metropolitan transport within the state. Founded in 1992, the company transports nearly 3mn passengers per day along a six-line network, with an extension of 260km and 92 stations, to serve 22 municipalities in greater São Paulo. The company is also involved in the development of projects to expand its current network, such as the line No. 13, which will run from the Engenheiro Goulart station on line No. 12 to Guarulhos international airport.
