La Compañía Marítima Chilena S.A. (CMC) (formerly Chilena de Navegación Interoceánica, (CCNI) its a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chilean holding Grupo de Empresas Navieras S.A.(GEN). Headquartered in Valparaíso region (V), the firm was founded in 1930. In 2015, the Urenda family, owners of the holding GEN, sold the container liner shipping business to Hamburg Südamerikanishe Dampfschifffahrtsgsellshaftkg (HSUD). The deal included adopting the new name Compañía Marítima Chilena S.A. (CMC) and a reorganization of activities to focus on three main lines of business: maritime vehicle shipping from Asia, cabotage transport or bulk cargoes, and charter or sale/purchases of vessels.
