Norway's Equinor, formerly Statoil ASA, is an integrated energy company that is primarily engaged in oil and gas exploration and production. Equinor is present in more than 30 countries worldwide. In Brazil, the company has produced over 220 million barrels and has seven E&P licenses. It owns a 60% stake and is the operator of the Peregrino field and owns a 25% stake in the Roncador field, both in the Campos basin. Its development projects include Bacalhau, a pre-salt project in the Santos basin in association with ExxonMobil and Petrogal, and the BM-C-33 block, one of Equinor's main natural gas projects, in the Campos pre-salt. In Argentina, Equinor participates in both onshore and offshore licenses. In the Vaca Muerta area, it holds interest in three exploration licenses (Baja del Toro, Bajo del Toro Este, Aguila Mora Noreste) and one producing block (Banurria Sur). Offshore, Equinor's portfolio includes blocks CAN_100, CAN_108, CAN_114, CAN_102, MLO_121, MLO_123, AUS_105 and AUS_106. The company also operates in Mexico (blocks 1 and 3 in the Saline Basin), Suriname (block 59), and Venezuela (Cocuina, in Plataforma Deltana block 4). Equinor was founded in 1972 under the name Den Norske Stats Oljeselskap, but changed it to Statoil in 2001. The firm is based in Stavanger, Norway, and has representative offices in Kazakhastan, United Arab Emirates, Argentina and Mexico.
