Description:
Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, OMA, is a Mexican company that operates and manages 13 airports in the north and central regions of the country, specifically in Monterrey, Acapulco, Mazatlán, Zihuatanejo, Chihuahua, Culiacán, Durango, San Luis Potosí, Tampico, Torreón, Zacatecas, Ciudad Juárez, and Reynosa, serving both domestic and international routes. The company was formed in 1998 as part of a government plan to open the country's airports to private investment. OMA is also engaged in non-aeronautical services, such as leasing of space in airports to retailers, restaurants and other commercial tenants, hotel services, air cargo logistics services, and complementary activities. The company is carrying out investments in eight of its 13 airports to enhance the facilities, including the rehabilitation of the asphalt runway at Culiacán, the expansion and remodeling of the terminal building in Zihuatanejo, and the rehabilitation of the asphalt runway and construction of a helicopter ramp at San Luis Potosí, where in 2013 OMA invested US$6.13mn to expand the international terminal. The following year, OMA announced an investment of nearly US$27.1mn to build a new terminal at Acapulco airport. Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte is controlled by Aeroinvest, a subsidiary of Mexican construction giant ICA, and Servicios de Tecnología Aeroportuaria, in which French airport operator Aeroports de Paris holds a stake.
