Mexican financial group Grupo Financiero Banamex, the local arm of US-based Citi, was created in 2001 following Citigroup's acquisition of Grupo Financiero Banamex-Accival. Banamex offers a range of financial services to corporate and individual clients, governmental agencies and SMEs, such as commercial and investment banking, insurance, and investment management. Banking products include deposit accounts, mortgages, consumer loans, mutual funds, and credit cards. The group's subsidiaries include banking unit and Mexico's second biggest bank Citibanamex; brokerage Acciones y Valores Banamex; insurance unit Seguros Banamex; and pension fund manager Afore Banamex. It is headquartered in Mexico City.
