Instituto Dominicano de las Telecomunicaciones (Indotel) is an autonomous regulating agency for telecommunications in the Dominican Republic, created in 1998 in Santo Domingo. Indotel regulates, supervises and promotes the development of the local telecom market, granting the provision of services in the frame of an effective, fair and free competence. In 2016-2017, Indotel commissioned Multiple Service Digital Centers in Pantoja, Invivienda, San Pedro de Macorís, Cotuí and Salcedo. Its Digital Republic Programme allowed Indotel to implement five Wi-Fi points in public spaces, such as the Traumatology Hospital Doctor Darío Contreras and the España Square in the Colonial Zone.
