Description:

Jinzhao Mining Perú S.A., a subsidiary of China's Zhongrong Xinda Group, is a Lima-based miner engaged in iron ore exploration and production activities. The company's projects include the US$1.8bn Pampa del Pongo iron ore project, in Peru's Arequipa region, which is set to begin production in 2016. Jinzhao plans to invest US$1.5bn in the mine and US$340mn in a port in Arequipa region's Caravelí province. The open pit mine, which includes 21,202ha in concessions and a 98,300t/d processing plant, will produce an estimated 22.5Mt/y iron ore. The 11Mt/y port will have the capacity to handle vessels of up to 300,000dwt. Founded in 2009, the company has drilled 150,727m at the property and is also looking to build a 220kV power line to bring the project into production by 2017.
