Japanese-South Korean consortium LS-Nikko Copper Inc. engages in selling smelted copper products to domestic and international markets, also investing in global natural resources and urban mines. In Latin America, it has operations in Mexico, Peru and Chile, with mining investments in Mexico, Panama and Bolivia. Material transactions are carried out in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. From these countries, LS-Nikko Copper imports copper ores and other raw materials. The firm's business areas are precious metals, PSA and silver materials, with its main products consisting of electrolytic copper, sulfuric acid and rare metals. In 2014, the Seoul-based company signed an agreement with Chilean state copper producer Codelco to build a new metals recovery plant in the northern city of Mejillones, in Antofagasta region (II), to produce gold and silver ingots. The company was incorporated in 1999. It is owned by Korean conglomerate LS Holdings (50.1%) and Japanese consortium JKJS (49.9%), made up of JX Nippon Mining and Metals, Mitsui Mining, Smelting Co. Ltd, and the Marubeni Corporation.
