Description:
The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Guatemala is the national body governing and promoting the proper development of energy, mining and hydrocarbon sectors. Its strategic objectives include meeting national requirements and quality standards for mining and energy; promoting renewable energies and the sustainable consumption of mining and power resources; taking actions for conservation, development and the efficient use of renewable and non-renewable natural resources; and creating suitable conditions for local and foreign investment. Then, the Ministry functions consider the research on clean sources of energy, the design of a national policy to reach the energy self-sufficiency of the country, and the framing and enforcement of laws and regulations thereon, among other actions.
