Description:
Bolivia's Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy is responsible for policies, plans and regulations governing the country's energy sector in order to secure energy efficiency, security and sovereignty. In addition, the ministry's strategic objectives include changing the energy matrix, promoting the export of surplus power, managing resources and programs and consolidating the country's position as the region's main natural gas exporter. The ministry is divided into three vice-ministries: exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons; industralization, commercialization, transport and storage of hydrocarbons; and energy development. Other entities under the Ministry's control are the national hydrocarbons agency ANH; the state oilfield company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB); the national entity for the conversion to vehicular natural gas (EEC - GNV); and Bolivian company for the industralization of hydrocarbons EBIH. The ministry is headquartered in Bolivian capital La Paz.
