Ormat Technologies, Inc. (Ormat) is a US-based firm that engages in the design, development, construction, ownership and operation of geothermal and recovered energy-based power plants. Omat also designs, manufactures and sells power generating equipment and complete power plants. Created in 1965 by the Israeli family Bronicki, Omat's main shareholder today is the Japanese conglomerate Orix Corporation (22%). Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, Ormat has been involved in the development of the following plants in Latin America: Cerro Pabellon (53 MW), in Chile; Las Pailas (42 MW) and Miravalles (19 MW), in Costa Rica; Momotombo (8 MW), in Nicaragua; Zunil (23 MW) and Amatitlan (20 MW), in Guatemala; and Platanares (38 MW), in Honduras. Ormat is also the owner of the plants in Guatemala and Honduras.
