Description:

Argentine firm Pan American Energy LLC (PAE) is an oil and gas exploration and production company, which holds hydrocarbon reserves in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. The company operates four active hydrocarbon basins in Argentina: San Jorge gulf, which leads the total oil production; Neuquina; Noroeste and Austral. PAE has operations on and offshore, and produces 20% of Argentina's oil and 16% of its gas. The Buenos Aires-based company was the result of the partnership between Bridas (40%) and Amoco (now BP, 60%) in 1997. Active in Bolivia since 2000, the firm operates in the Caipipendi area, in the southwestern Tarija basin through a consortium formed by Repsol E&P Bolivia S.A. (37.5%), BG Bolivia Corporation (37.5%), and PAE E&P Bolivia Limited (25%). PAE also has operations in Chile, where it began operating in 2008 with the exploration drilling of the southern Coirón gas block. Since then the firm has three gas wells in Chile (Los Cerros 2, Los Fierros 1 y Los Fierros 2), with a combined production of 56,000m3/d.
