Description:

Petrobras Biocombustível S.A. (PBIO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brazilian energy state-controlled company Petrobras, is engaged in the production of ethanol and biodiesel. PBIO owns two biodiesel production plants, in Candeias and Montes Claros. Its third plant, Quixadá, halted operations in 2016. The company also has an interest in two other plants, one in Passo Fundo, and the other in Marialva. These four facilities total output is 794Ml/y of biodiesel. PBIO also has a sugarcane milling capacity of over 7MT/y, for an ethanol production of 515,000m3, through its stakes in Nova Fronteira and Bambuí Energia. The firm is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, and it was founded in 2008.
