Description:
The description contained in this profile was taken directly from an official source and has not been edited or modified by BNamericas researchers, but may have been automatically translated.
The project called "Puerto Terrestre Los Andes" consists of the design, construction, maintenance and exploitation of the works, which by provision of the bidding conditions must be complied with by the Concessionaire Company, in order to allow the public functions and related to the customs and phytozoosanitary control of the products that enter and leave the country through the Los Libertadores border crossing.
In February 2005, the Government of Chile awarded the company Azvi Chile SA the Concession for the Construction and Operation of the Los Andes Land Port (PTLA) facilities. It entered into operation on December 9, 2006.
The Los Andes Land Port houses the facilities where the National Customs Service, the Agricultural and Livestock Service and the Regional Ministry of Health carry out their inspection activities. All merchandise that is imported or exported through the Los Libertadores Pass is subject to this inspection.
As a complement to the support services for inspection work, a Customs Warehouse is located inside the port, which functions as a merchandise storage center.
