Sinochem Petróleo Brasil Ltda. (Sinochem Brasil), formerly Statoil Petróleo Brasil Limitada, is a Brazilian oil and gas company established in 2004 and headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. Operating as a subsidiary of China's state-owned Sinochem Group, a global conglomerate in the oil, chemicals, and agriculture sectors, Sinochem Brasil owns a 40% interest in two blocks in the Campos basin —BM-C-7 and BM-C-47, where the Peregrino and Pitangola fields are located, respectively. The balance is held by the operator of the blocks, Statoil Brasil Óleo e Gás Ltda. The oil fields are located approximately 85km offshore the municipality of Cabo Frio. Peregrino has a production capacity of 100,000b/d and development is currently in the second phase.
