Telefónica Celular (Celtel), established in 1994 and operating since 1996, is a subsidiary of Millicom International Celullar providing telecommunication and media services in Honduras, under the brand name Tigo; which provides its services through the Global Systems for Mobile Communications (GSM) and offers 4G LTE services. In 2015, Celtel was awarded a seven year extension to a 25 year contract allocated in 2005, which provides the company with a solid support to continue developing telecommunications in the country.
