The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States seeks consultants to review new electricity sector laws in Grenada and Saint Lucia, find gaps between law and procedural framework and recommendations for alignment of laws and development of additional laws or guidelines.

Fourteen companies submitted offers in Panama's call to supply power to distributors Edechi, Edemet and Ensa for four years starting January 1, 2016.

Hydropower bids totaled 11 and one each for bunker, methane gas and wind, according to information from state transmission company Etesa, which days earlier had received offers to supply 350MW from thermoelectric plants.

Bolivia's hydrocarbons and energy ministry (MHE) said the country's central bank and state power company Ende had signed a financing contract for US$40.1mn to build the transmission component of the 124MW San José hydroelectric project.

The EBY joint venture that operates the Yacyretá hydroelectric dam on the Argentina-Paraguay border reported that heavy rainfall associated with El Niño led to record flow of 30,000m3/second, the highest registered for the month of November since 1901.

EBY said along with opening the sluice gates at the spillway of the Aña Cuá branch of the Paraná river, the gates of the spillway on the principal branch also were opened.
