The application of Costa Rica’s fiscal rule is neutral for the rating of state-run fuel company Recope as it does not impact the operator’s financial profile, according to Fitch Ratings.

In a non-rating action commentary, Fitch said, however, that the fiscal rule could restrict capex in 2023-25 and potentially impact the Pacífico and Chorotega terminal projects.

Honduras’ loss-plagued state-owned power company Enee has launched bidding to improve oversight of the national transmission grid.

The contract entails the procurement of meters for the commercial metering system that will be installed at 33 substations. Offers are due by June 30, according to reference terms.

Enee, meanwhile, extended to July 7 the bidding deadline in the call to build substations Calpules, La Victoria and El Sitio, and expand 10 substations and one transmission line.

For its part, IDB has placed technical cooperation in its pipeline of possible financing to help the government implement best technical and practices and conduct an assessment to strengthen and improve the sector’s technical and financial sustainability.

The IDB also may provide technical cooperation funds to support the Panamanian government’s actions to promote energy efficiency and distributed generation in public buildings.

Additional proposed technical cooperation would support technical training in clean energy focused on electromobility and distributed generation.
