Brazil's Eneva begins commercial ops of gas liquefaction plant

Bnamericas

Brazil's Eneva has begun commercial operations of the first train of its natural gas liquefaction plant in Maranhão state.

Built in the vicinity of the Parnaíba natural gas treatment unit, in Santo Antônio dos Lopes, the plant is supplied by gas from Eneva's fields in the Parnaíba basin.

The company has signed three contracts for the sale of LNG from the plant, with supply terms of between three and 10 years. Two are for industrial clients (Vale and Suzano) and one for Maranhão gas distributor Gasmar.

“This liquefaction plant and our regasification plant represent a new moment in Maranhão's history, with the possibility of using gas from our soil to supply local companies,” Gasmar president Allan Kardec Barros told BNamericas.

The second train is in the commissioning phase and is expected to begin commercial operations in the coming weeks.

After that, the plant will have capacity of 600,000m3/d.
