
Latin America's US$300bn renewables pipeline

Energy developers are investing more than US$300bn in early-stage or under-construction wind and solar projects across Latin America and the Caribbean as decarbonization efforts gather pace.
BNamericas' database shows there are 7,590 of these projects in the early works stage requiring combined investment of more than US$295bn.
Another 636 initiatives totaling US$19.9bn are under construction, while 1,835 developments worth US$111bn are already in operation.
Overall, BNamericas is tracking 10,061 solar and wind projects, including those in operation, representing a net investment outlay of US$426bn.
The portfolio includes 7,340 solar developments requiring US$231bn and 2,780 wind initiatives budgeted at US$219bn.
Brazil's Pacto Energía has the largest number of projects with 174 followed by Omega (133), SRE Participações (80) and Voltalia (79).
Brazil is the country with the most developments with 7,677, ahead of Chile (1,249), Colombia (288), Mexico (235) and Argentina (183).
Some 248 projects with forecast investments of US$16.6bn are expected to advance to another stage in the current quarter while 162 (US$12.4bn) are seen advancing in the second quarter.
Another 380 developments totaling more than US$61bn are scheduled to progress to a new stage in the second half of 2025.
The largest project in development or under construction, in capex terms, is TEH2's US$16.3bn H2 Magallanes hub in Chile. It is followed by ASOE Chile Diez's US$11bn HNH Energy initiative, Fortescue's US$8.4bn Pampas complex and TEG's US$8bn Gente Grande venture, all located in Chile.
Next on the list is the US$6bn Paysandú initiative in Uruguay, the US$3.4bn Ventos Potiguar project in Brazil and the US$3bn Vientos Magallánicos development is Chile.
