ABN Amro seeks to retain Sudameris' Japanese portfolio

Bnamericas
The Brazilian unit of Netherlands' ABN Amro (NYSE: ABN) will seek to retain the Japanese client portfolio it inherited by taking over Banco Sudameris Brasil earlier this year. Sudameris had a strong competitive position among Brazil's Japanese community, which will be one of ABN Amro's "main focuses" in terms of continued long-term relationships with former Sudameris clients, the Dutch bank said in a statement. The Brazilian unit, known as ABN Amro Real, will host a special meeting for Sudameris' Japanese clients on December 10 to inform them of its plans. Sudameris had offered its Japanese clients exclusive products and services and also access to two business platforms, Plataforma Dekassegui for individuals and Plataforma Corporate Banking Japan Desk for Japanese multinationals. ABN Amro signed a final agreement to buy 94.6% of Sudameris Brasil from Italy's Intesa in June after announcing the takeover in April.
