AGF unit expects to grow 14-15% next year

Bnamericas
The Brazilian subsidiary of French-German insurance group AGF expects to boost premiums between 14% and 15% next year compared to this year, local press quoted AGF Seguros' president Max Thiermann as saying. Thiermann said the insurer would aim to expand outside Brazil's main economic centers next year and also make investments in new technology a priority. AGF's health insurance arm is set to outperform the other insurance businesses in 2005 with annual premium growth in the range of 18% on the back of strong demand for corporate health policies, Thiermann said. AGF Brasil reported 1bn reais (US$365mn) in billing last year in Brazil where it has 1,200 employees and 7,000 brokers serving 500,000 clients through 70 offices. AGF is a subsidiary of German financial services giant Allianz (NYSE: AZ) and operates in several regions such as South America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
