Altiris builds Gedas, EDS partnership

US IT infrastructure supplier Altiris has strengthened its Brazilian unit through a partnership with the local units of German IT supplier Gedas and US IT company EDS, Altiris Latin America sales director Russ Warner told BNamericas. Brazil is Altiris' strongest Latin American market, generating 35% of revenues in the region. The next most important areas are Mexico with 30%, the Southern Cone with 15%, the Andean region with 10% and the Caribbean with 10%. "In the last five years, Altiris has seen its [global] revenues grow between 60% and 65% a year, and for 2005 we expect the same", Warner said. Altiris had global revenues of US$166.6mn in 2004, up from US$99mn in 2003. Warner was unable to break the revenue figures down for the region due to US legal rules, but said that 56% of Altiris revenues were billed inside the United states and the rest through their 15 globally spread sales offices. "Our goal is to increase revenues outside the US so we can reach a 50-50 revenue distribution between US billings and non-US billings," Warner said. Altiris entered the Brazilian IT market in 2002 and has 160 national clients such as Banco do Nordeste, Banco de Brasília, Brazil's development bank BNDES, supermarket-giant Pão de Açúcar, Johnson & Johnson and publisher Grupo Abril.
