Amafore, consumer agency sign cooperation deal

Mexico's consumer defense agency Condusef and pension fund association Amafore have signed an agreement to improve service to contributors, local daily El Financiero reported. Under the terms of the deal, Amafore will donate computer hardware to the agency to help it deal with customer inquiries. Condusef receives a considerable volume of calls from people who want to know which pension fund company they have been assigned to by regulator Consar. One of the main objectives of the program is to improve public understanding of the pension fund industry. Since 1997, salaried workers in Mexico contribute a minimum of 6.5% of their gross salary to one of 12 pension fund managers (Afores).
