Aneel authorizes 15.52% average rate hike for Cerj

Brazil's power-sector regulator Aneel on Tuesday authorized local distributor Cerj to hike its rates by 15.52% on average. Residential and low voltage consumers will pay 15% more for the power supplied by Cerj and major consumers 18.13% more. The hikes are effective Wednesday. Cerj operates in 66 municipalities in the interior of Rio de Janeiro state. Cerj is a subsidiary of Chilean electricity group Enersis, which in turn is controlled by Endesa of Spain. by Teo Takar
