Brazil's electricity regulator Aneel has authorized tariff hikes for three small utilities in the south of the country. Companhia Campolarguense de Energia (Cocel), Empresa Força e Luz João Cesa and Empresas Força e Luz de Urussanga (Eflul) were given the green light to raise their rates by 15.8%, 13.4% and 12.7% respectively. Cocel serves Campo Largo, Paraná state, while João Cesa and Eflul are both based in Santa Catarina state. Meanwhile, Aneel has proposed a 34.1% annual tariff hike for Pernambuco state distributor Celpe, local daily O Estado de S. Paulo reported. Celpe has requested Aneel's authorization for an average rate hike of 56.8%. Celpe's tariff increase, which is yet to be confirmed by Aneel, will come into effect on April 29.
