Aracruz adopts e-procurement solution

Brazilian paper manufacturer Aracruz has implanted in partnership with local software company Techbiz a customized e-procurement system, Aracruz said in a statement. Aracruz expects to migrate all its national and international purchases to the system within six months. The solution automatically selects the suppliers with the best conditions and prices. The solution is derived from the one already in use by Brazilian steelmaker Usiminas, which in three years reduced costs associated with paper, mail and fax by 70%. Today Usiminas makes 90% of its purchases via Internet, through a network with 8,200 suppliers. Aracruz' supplies procurement bill runs 700mn reais (US$247mn) annually.
