Areva wins US$51mn substation contracts

French engineering company Areva has won two contracts with a combined value of 40mn euros (US$51.5mn) to build six substations in Brazil, Areva said in a statement. Federal power company Furnas has hired Areva to build the Areinha substation with 345kV/138kV transforming capacity in the southeastern state of Espírito Santo. Power distributor Cemat has also hired Areva to build five 138kV substations to strengthen its transmission network in the center-west state of Mato Grosso, Areva said in the statement.
