Colombian trunking operator Avantel has spent US$1.5mn to expand its wireless network in four regions of the country, a company spokesperson told BNamericas. The company completed the deployments in December and is currently trialing the new additions, the spokesperson said, adding they will be operational this month. Two of the deployments are for the cities of Puerto Colombia and Barranquilla in the north coast's Atlantico department, and to Banaderos in Guijara, in the far northeast of the country. The other two additions apply to Apulo and Giradot in Cundinamarca department, the region of Colombia's capital Bogota.
