Bucaramanga water project deadline extended

The bidding deadline to conduct the viability study for the Bucaramanga aqueduct project has been extended to November 20, El Tiempo reports. The extension is to allow participants to prepare better proposals. The original deadline was November 6. The tender process has so far drawn bids from Nmas1 (Spain), Fichtner (Germany), William Halcrow (Argentina), Colombian/French consortium DeloitteTouche-Selfinver Investment Bank, Colombian/American consortium Kym-MWH-Ingesam, and BBVA (Spain). Participants are bidding to complete a US$1.4mn study for waterworks company Compania Metropolitana de Acueducto de Bucaramanga. The study is funded by the Inter-American Development Bank. The US$200mn Bucaramanga aqueduct project entails building a 70m dam that will hold 30M cu. m and will flood 120ha to supply water to the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga. Bucaramanga is the capital of Santander department.
