Budget committee approves long distance tax

Panama's congressional budget commission has approved legislation that would replace a one dollar tax on international long distance calls billed in Panama with a 12% surcharge, Critica reported. The tax bill was submitted by the finance ministry and would be applied to all long distance calls irregardless of the technology used.
