CDEEE restores power to south

Bnamericas
Technicians from the Dominican Republic's state-owned power company CDEEE have restored power to the south of the country after heavy rains and wind cut power on the weekend, the government news agency reported. Most of the transmission lines that were knocked down or damaged by storm Odette in the provinces of Barahona, Independencia and Bahoruco have been repaired, CDEEE's VP Martin Robles was quoted as saying. Four transmission poles that were brought down when the river Yaque del Sur burst its banks have not yet been repaired, but technicians are working hard to do so, Robles said.
