Nicaragua's energy commission CNE has awarded a contract to extend distribution lines by 227km to the rural areas of the Chontales and Boaco departments to domestic consortium Sinter-EDC, local paper La Prensa reported. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is financing 90% of the project, which is valued at US$1.6mn and Nicaragua's government is putting up the remaining 10%, the paper said. The new infrastructure is scheduled to start operations by February, the report said.
