CNFL lowers rates 3.1%

Costa Rica's state-owned power distributor CNFL has lowered rates by an average of 3.1% this month, newspaper Diario Extra reported. This decrease comes after the country's utility regulator Aresep authorized CNFL to increase electricity rates by an average of 14.6% from last August. CNFL serves some 429,000 clients in a 903sq km. concession area in the metropolitan region of capital city San José. Its direct parent is state power company ICE.
