CVRD forecasts 11% increase in logistics revs. in 2004

Brazilian mining group CVRD (NYSE: RIO) forecasts a 11% increase in revenues from logistics services in 2004, compared with last's year 2.134bn reais (US$ 677.4mn at today's rate), news service AE-Setorial said, citing company executive Guilherme Laager. In the first quarter of 2004, the company raked in 332mn reais (US$106mn) from logistics, or 12.2% of its total revenues, similar to levels in 1Q03 and 4Q03. Rail transport revenues were 261mn reais and revenues from port services were 71mn reais. Laager also said CVRD plans to invest US$312mn in wagons for the Vitória-Minas, Carajás and Centro-Atlântica railroads this year.
