Cablevision to offer new services in 2004

Bnamericas
Mexican cable TV operator Cablevision plans to launch video on demand service and broaden its high speed Internet offering next year, El Universal reported. Cablevision is also expanding its coverage to include 17 communities near the capital Mexico City and investing in the migration of its network from analogue to digital technology, chief executive Jean Paul Broc told the paper. Cablevision reported about 412,400 paid TV subscribers end-2002, but third quarter figures put its subscriber base at around 382,900. The company's subscriber numbers were hit by a 10% luxury tax on paid TV services, as well as other factors such as piracy, rate hikes and poor service. Cablevision is a subsidiary of Mexican broadcasting group Televisa (NYSE: TV).
