Cachoeira Dourada restarts operations

Brazilian hydro plant Cachoeira Dourada has restarted operations after filing an injunction overturning Goias state's environmental agency order shutting down nine of the 10 turbines at its 658MW plant, the plant and its Chilean owner Endesa said in separate statements Friday evening. The plant also signed an accord with the state environmental authorities allowing for the operations to continue and removing fines and demands the state authorities imposed on the plant. The company promised to present an environmental license to the state government as soon as it is issued. The agreement was hammered out after federal officials intervened and explained the necessity of Cachoeira Dourada's output for the country's economy.
