Bnamericas
Construction work started this week on a US$22mn government funded project to repair the 60km Chiclayo-Chongoyape highway in northwestern Peru's Lambayeque department, news agency Andina reported. Camargo-Correa-Upaka, the team in charge of construction, will start works by building 100 sewerage systems along the route, Andina cited Chongoyape mayor Santos Díaz as saying. "Project engineers are already on the job," he said. "We are looking at where to set up work stations and how many sewerage systems to install. Later will come the highway repair." Department capital Chiclayo has 621,000 inhabitants and is one of Peru's fastest growing cities. Chongoyape has 16,000 residents.
