Chuqui to control toasting emissions

Chile's state copper corporation Codelco presented an environmental impact statement to regulator Conama for a US$1.39mn project to control emissions at the toasting plant of its Chuquicamata smelter. The plant was closed in March this year as part of an attempt to bring sulfur dioxide emissions at the Chuquicamata mine camp in line with required standards. The aim is to process the sulfur dioxide into sulfuric acid.
